MLA Bani Dr Rameshwar Singh Meets CM Omar Abdullah, Seeks Rehabilitation for Landslide-Affected Families
Srinagar, Sept 19 — In a significant development, MLA from Bani constituency, Dr Rameshwar Singh, met Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today in Srinagar to apprise him of the widespread damage caused by recent heavy rainfall in the region.
During the meeting, Dr Singh highlighted the alarming situation in several villages including Moar, Padetar, Nandh Najote, and Majra Kanthal, which have been severely affected by mass landslides. He informed the Chief Minister that these areas have become unsafe for residential habitation, posing serious risks to the lives and property of local residents.
To address the crisis, Dr Singh urged the government to allot 5 Marla plots to each affected family as part of a rehabilitation initiative. He emphasized the urgent need for relocation and support to ensure the safety and dignity of those displaced.
Responding to the concerns, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah assured full government support and committed to visiting the affected areas personally in the coming days. He stated that a comprehensive assessment will be conducted to initiate appropriate relief and rehabilitation measures.
